24-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Capital Region Shooting; Search For Gunman Underway

A young man is fighting for his life following a late-night shooting in the region.

The incident happened at around 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in Albany’s West Hill neighborhood, near First and Ontario streets.

Staff at Albany Medical Center Hospital contacted Albany Police after the 24-year-old victim showed up to the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The man remains hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

No suspects had been identified as of Wednesday, May 22.
